New Era Begins For The Outliers

The Utah Outliers are proud to announce an exciting new chapter: starting this fall, the team will relocate to the Park City area and take the ice at their new home arena, located on the grounds of the 4-star Black Rock Mountain Resort. This move marks a significant milestone as the Outliers enter their 10th anniversary season, signaling the start of an elevated era for players, fans, and the broader hockey community.
Nestled in one of the nation’s most iconic winter sports destinations, Park City offers the perfect stage for the Outliers to grow their legacy. With a strong culture rooted in athletic excellence and outdoor adventure, the Park City area is more than just a new home; it’s a natural extension of the Outliers’ mission to develop elite hockey talent in an environment built for high performance.
After nine years at the Acord Ice Center in West Valley, Utah, the Outliers are entering a new era. Their new arena will accommodate 2,000 fans for hockey and feature a two-story state-of-the-art training facility, providing the necessary infrastructure to support elite player development, host top-level competitions, and deliver an unforgettable experience for fans. With modern amenities and stunning mountain views, the venue sets the stage for a bold and exciting future.
The timing couldn't be better for the Outliers organization. As they enter their 10th season, the club is celebrating a decade of growth and success, including three consecutive USPHL Mountain Division titles over the past five years. With a proven development model that has propelled players to NCAA programs and professional leagues, the Outliers have earned a national reputation for excellence, and now, they're raising the bar once again.
Founded in 2016 by Head Coach Paul Taylor and Managing Partner Rich Wolper, the Utah Outliers were born from a vision to build something different. Inspired by Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers: The Story of Success, Coach Taylor saw the opportunity to create a hockey program defined by uncommon standards, elite training, and a culture of discipline and excellence. That philosophy endures today and continues to attract driven, talented players from around the world.
The Outliers compete in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) in the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC). The USPHL is the nation's largest amateur ice hockey league and the only league to span the continental United States and parts of Canada. The NCDC is a U-20 league that is comprised of 30 teams in three divisions (New England, Atlantic, Mountain). Players from all over the world participate in the NCDC with the aspiration to advance to play collegiate and professional hockey.
As the Utah Outliers begin this exciting new chapter, we invite our loyal fans to continue supporting the team in our new home. We also warmly welcome the Park City community and the surrounding areas. Experience fast-paced, championship-caliber hockey and be part of the energy and excitement of Utah Outliers Hockey!
