Main Camp Delivers Great Competition
The Outliers Hockey Club's 2025 Main Camp wrapped up this past weekend, and by all accounts, it was a tremendous success. The energy, intensity, and talent on display made for a highly competitive environment — exactly what you want when building a winning team.
Over the course of four days, players battled through a demanding schedule of scrimmages and evaluations. From the opening whistle to the final puck drop, it was clear that the athletes came ready to compete and push for a spot in the program.
"The level of competition was outstanding," said Outliers Assistant Coach, Richard Bohan. "We saw a lot of players raise their game, and that made our job extremely difficult — in the best way possible."
Throughout the camp, players were evaluated not just on skill and execution, but also on habits, compete level, character, and attitude. The Outliers staff emphasized identity and culture as much as system fit, looking for players who could buy into the group’s standards and expectations.
The decisions coming out of camp will not be easy. With a deep pool of talent at every position, the staff will have to make some very tough calls. As a result, the evaluation process stretched into the final two All-Star games, with internal discussions focused on not just who could play at this level — but who could thrive in the Outliers environment.
"This is the hardest part of our job, but also the most important," added Head Coach, Paul Taylor. "We’re proud of how many players pushed the pace and made it a true competition. That’s what you want to see as a coach — players who make decisions difficult."
As the Outliers finalize their roster and prepare for the upcoming season, they do so knowing that the foundation has been laid through a highly competitive and rewarding Main Camp. With that kind of internal competition setting the tone, expectations are high for what lies ahead.
