OUTLIERS HIT THE ROAD

The Utah Outliers are embarking on their first road trip of the 2018-19 hockey season. After falling to Ogden at home this past Saturday in game one, Utah is hitting the road in hopes of getting back to the success they enjoyed last season. The team will be heading to Steamboat, Colorado to play against the new expansion club the Steamboat Wranglers. This weekend will be unique for the Outliers as it will be the first ever meeting between these two programs.

The Wranglers join the WSHL this year after experiencing a great deal of success in the RMJHL. Over the past two seasons, Steamboat has accumulated 58 wins and 22 losses, while winning a league championship and finishing runner up. They got their first taste of WSHL action last weekend, playing an exhibition game against the Cheyenne Stampede, losing by one goal. This weekend’s matchup will be the first regular season game in WSHL history for the Wranglers, so it will be interesting to see how they match up against the defending Mountain Division champs.

Utah comes into the series against Steamboat with a 0-1 record. A hard fought battle against the Ogden Mustangs last Saturday was not the start that the boys were looking for, but there were a number of positives from the game that the Outliers have been building on in preparation for the Wranglers. Utah is hoping to pick up some momentum early and get back to the top of the league standings.

These two teams will battle at 7:30 PM Friday and Saturday night, as well as 11:30 AM Sunday morning. All three games will take place at the Howelsen Ice Complex. Both Utah and Steamboat will get to know each other very well as the following weekend the Wranglers will head to Salt Lake City for the second series. It should be an action packed weekend of games as both teams are looking to start the season on the right foot.
