Weekend Preview: Outliers vs Seattle Totems

by Website Admin

The Utah Outliers return to the Acord Ice Arena this weekend for a three game home stand against Northwest Division rival, Seattle Totems. This will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams. The Outliers currently sit in second place in the division while Seattle rests in third place. The Outliers come into the weekend with a record of 21-9-0-1 and with the Totems at 15-13-2-0. The Outliers come off a 'bye' weekend while Seattle won its series last weekend against the Southern Oregon Spartans. Both teams have shown a knack for strong defensive play and have strong goaltending which could make generating offense challenging for both sides.

The Outliers continue to rely on their depth of scoring and a full team effort in recent wins. Forwards, Jett Arminen and Miro Hradecky have both shown a hot hand as of late, scoring some big goals for the team. Between the pipes, Oscar Wahlgren has earned the bulk of games thus far, however Micah Hersehy has earned some big wins and is showing he can get the job done when called upon.

Another key feature of the weekend will be special teams. Both Utah and the Totems are hovering around 18% on the Power Play and both are under 90% on the Penalty Kill. With both teams capable of playing tight defense, the special teams component of the games could be a big difference maker.

All games will be played at the Acord Ice Center in West Valley as follows:  Friday 7:00 PM / Saturday 6:30 PM / Sunday 12:00 PM
